The clients desired a home that dissolved into the forest—minimal, meditative, and deeply tactile. Their vision was a retreat that honored imperfection, nature, and quietness—a space to disconnect from the world and reconnect with themselves, surrounded by raw textures and organic calm.
Design Concept
Vanvaas was designed as an immersive forest dwelling, where architecture follows the rhythm of nature. Wabi-Sabi principles guided the materiality—mud-plastered walls, uneven handmade niches, raw teak furniture, and stone flooring that holds the earth’s texture. The open-air bathroom garden, matte copper basins, woven jute rugs, and sculptural pendant lighting create a language of simplicity and soul. Every detail is intentionally imperfect—celebrating natural aging, quiet luxury, and the serenity of stillness. The villa lives and breathes with its landscape.
